Avon, IN – Hendricks Power Cooperative recently donated $3,500 to Sycamore Services, Inc. and $2,000 to Hendricks County Senior Services.  In addition, both organizations also received a matching grant through CoBank’s Sharing Success program, bringing a combined contribution of $11,000 to these organizations.

Funding to Sycamore Services will go toward enhancing a Sensory Garden located at the Danville Annex location. Plans include the installation of wheelchair accessible pathways, terracing with plants and other sensory materials, and a gazebo/shelter with a metal roof.

Sycamore Services
“The Sensory Garden enhances our program offerings and provides the individuals we serve with new, meaningful opportunities to appreciate nature and have a peaceful space where they can enjoy gentle sensory stimulation,” said Patrick Cockrum, CEO of Sycamore Services. “We are excited to be able to move forward with the next phase of this unique garden space that enhances the beauty of Sycamore Lane. We sincerely appreciate the generosity of Hendricks Power Cooperative and their commitment to improving lives in our community.”

Contributions made to the Hendricks County Senior Services will be used toward making repairs to their public parking lot. This will include new and additional paving improvements needed for safety precautions.

Senior Services

“Hendricks County Senior Services is grateful to Hendricks Power and CoBank for their generous support of this project. The parking lot is not a ‘glamorous’ location, but we have hundreds of visitors each day and it needs to be a safe space for everyone, said Marina Keers, Executive Director of Hendricks County Senior Services.  “The Senior Center is a vibrant and welcoming place and we are so thankful for the investments to ensure we can continue to meet the needs of Hendricks County.”

“We are lucky to have these great organizations within our community,” said Dana Cochran, Director of Marketing at Hendricks Power Cooperative. “We commend their efforts for being proactive with improvements.  We have great relationships with both organizations and will continue to lend support as needed.”
